Wow, this weekend has been a busy one for Michigan. We had a few solid tournaments here in West Michigan and we also had a Bassmaster Open event over on the east side of the state. On Friday night we had our Night Bite Open event on Gun Lake which proved to be a great night for some anglers.
Though we didn’t quite had the turnout we had expected the anglers that did show had a good time out on the water and after the event. The first place team ended up with just over 13lbs with a 4.03lb largemouth also winning them big bass, their fish came on a spinnerbait, we were told they had got on fish quickly and culled a few time throughout the night. The second place team ended their night with 8.61 fishing in a similar area to the winning boat after the sun went down. The third place boat ended up with 7.64 with a 3.92lb largemouth, they edged out the fourth place boat by a very slim margin due to a dead fish penalty.
During the weigh-ins anglers that had a rough night stayed to chat with the rest of us and the anglers that had a good night on the water quickly gave up spots, lures, and tactics. I personally found it very interesting to see the event turn into more of a social event that a tension-filled tournament.
Big thanks to all of the supports of the event! Please support them because they support us!
