We headed out to Pine Lake for a little redemption after our Hawg Hunters 2012 Classic Event. We ended our Classic with around 5lbs for day two using various techniques, most anglers bagged their keeper fish around docks in shallow water though the deeper sections were full of panfish.
This trip we went straight to Lake 3 on the western side where we hooked up on a 14 ½” largemouth using a black/blue Assassinator buzzbait. It seemed as though the squeak was one turned them on since the plastic bladed buzzer got no love. Once daylight arrived the 62*F water temperature allowed the northern pike to start roaming, we grabbed one on a brown craw Jackall TN/70, the other came on a plastic Sebile Magic Swimmer.
From there we headed down to Lake 4, here my father tossed a white buzzbait which was engulfed by a 15″ largemouth that went 1.83, this seemed to be the story of the day, largemouth as big around as they were long, they must have been packing on weight for the winter months. After not much more for bites there we headed to the State Tech area on Lake 2 where the Assassinator/Advantage spinnerbait hybrid grabbed a 14″ squeaker that went 1.71.
With a storm inbound we went back down to the southern end of Lake 4 where the RAM Big Horn crankbaits reigned supreme. With 5 keepers in 5 casts that resulted in around 10lbs + another 24″ northern + ANOTHER 15″ bass it was a great way to end the trip in a 15 minute long flurry of bites before the impending storm.
