We met up with Luke Winstrom of ROI Outdoors on Gun Lake last night at around 10pm, this lead to a night full of stories and laughter, keeping up residents I’m sure. We started out near Chicago Point, resulting in a rock bass being caught on a Chartreuse Blue-Back Jackall Bling 55. We ended up moving to the storefront like and hooked up on a couple largemouth, one at about 1.5lbs, the other produced a large splash and sent an Assassinator Clacker spinnerbait back my way. Luke hooked up on his only fish of the night using a black football jig on the storefront line; this fish came in at around 1.5-1.75. After yet another move we ended up at Robins tossing the spinnerbait and a Cotton Cordell Firetiger Super Spot we hooked up on a few very close keepers.
Ending the night with five keepers for the boat showed how tough the bite is right now due to the unpredictability of the fish, but that is fishing for you! I would like to thank Luke for coming out with us on such short notice, we are looking forward to hosting the Gun Lake Night Bite tournament on July 20th on Gun Lake.
