Eagle Lake showed it’s true colors today it is one of the most consistent lakes in the area for putting numbers of bass in the boat. Big fish are there but not in big numbers. Today we boated around 15 fish per hour the biggest was only a little over two pounds. That is pretty typical of the lake though we usually do get a bonus pike of good size, just not today. The water temps were in the mid to high 60’s as expected some small bass were on the beds but most fish were roaming looking to bite anything they could find.
Today we were able to catch fish on many different lures including: Assassinator pro I spinnerbaits, Jackall Aska crankbaits, Jackal Super Crosstail Shad and Berkley Havoc Pit Boss just to name a few. The weeds are pretty high already but they will usually cut them before the holiday weekend. Once the weeds are cut the fishing will be a little easier and maybe even better because they cut them instead of spaying. There is not much of a pattern to mention other than the bigger fish tend to come from the middle of the lake. Eagle is a good lake to try if you are trying to teach someone to fish or looking to try a new technique. For bonus fish today we did get one nice crappie and a very aggressive pumpkinseed. If you are looking for fast and furious action this lake is definitely worth a try.
