Lake Report: Eagle Lake – Texas Corners, Michigan

I apologize about this being so late but the holiday weekend was nuts!

Eagle Lake

My fiancee has been hounding me to get her out on the water, but she simply wasn’t allowed to when she lived with her parents, so now that she moved in with us she will be hitting the lake a little more often.

This largie engulfed that Berkley Havoc Wide Load I had rigged up!

Being as this was her first trip we decided to take her to a lake that we know would produce in a relatively short amount of time. Not only did we pick a lake that would produce we also gave her a setup that is pretty much going to produce on any lake at any time; Berkley’s Power Worm. Even though it did take her an hour or so to get the hang of it she did end up hooking up on a largie, small as it may be it was her first ever largemouth!

While I was showing her the ropes I also was testing some new lures that Berkley put out, some of the lures in the Havoc series. I started my day with the Bottom Hopper Jr. and it did produce two decent fish. Eventually I decided I wanted to try and up-size to see what would happen, I slid the Bottom Hopper off and put on a Wide Load, and it didn’t take long at all to bring in a pretty good fish.

Overall the ticket on Friday was to get the lure infront of them, they bit pretty much whatever we threw, but hey, that makes for some fun!
