Lake: Eagle Lake, Mattawan, MI
Water Temperature: 60-66 degrees
While on Eagle Lake I had gone out with a good friend of mine, a Park Ranger and big-lake guru. Getting him out for a chance at some largemouth and the possibility of northern pike had been planned for a while but the spinnerbait bite was unexpected. Fishing in roughly 2-3 feet of water the key was throwing to the transition between sand and vegetation. Attempting to throw parallel to this line meant keeping the bait in the strike zone as long as you possibly can. Fish were caught all along the shoreline in water ranging from 64-66 degrees.
We had primarily fished an Advantage Bait Company spinnerbait in bluegill and an Assassinator Compact with a blue/white skirt on backwards for a thinner profile.
