With the new boat in the driveway we were itching to hit the water, the day before my father, brother-in-law, and a friend took the boat out to try it out, but today was my day. The day started out with a little difficulty but when we got on the road it was time to head out to Austin Lake.
Arriving on the water it was difficult to figure out where to hit due to 14mph winds and the entire lake being a huge flat, we eventually decided to hop around instead of sticking in one spot. The day was slow overall but we landed a 12 fish, only took pictures of 7. All of today’s fish were caught on a steady retrieve on a rattle trap and most of which produced a heavy thump when they did bite.
Austin Lake is a beautiful lake that is filled with large fish, we did see around 30 bass and a couple muskie but they were being difficult, we attempted to use multiple plastics to get these fish with no luck.
