Ice Fishing Report: Sherman Lake – Kalamazoo, MI – 1/14/2014

I spent my day off on the ice and I have to say, it was nice to be out! With the ice coming on slow this year I expected Sherman to 3 or so inches but was pleasantly surprised by the 5-6″ I was met with. Fishing in 15-25ft I encountered a few schools of panfish but the result was mostly smallIMG_20150114_140739 fish, and I mean SMALL fish.

We did have one good crappie on the ice but it was an oddity after sorting through the 6″ dinks. Sherman is likely to be a lake I’ll skip for most of the season unless reports start looking up. Sherman isn’t known for many things but crappie should be available with enough searching. I wish had more to report but that’s it!

Hopefully Sunday brings a new lake and a new adventure!
