FLW has started the season with the Everstart series on the great Okeechobee. The anglers launched from the north end of the lake, offering great opportunities for those taking long trips or those wanting to play it safe.
The day one leader was George Kapiton with 21 pounds 6 ounces. Kapiton took the lead by continueing with what he did in the BFL event, flippin’ and pitchin’. George sealed the deal for day one by being the only angler to achieve the 20 pound mark.
Day two of the event was seized by Lake Placid native Brandon Medlock. Medlock jumped from his day one position of 7th place, with 17-8, up to the front with 57-15. Yeah, Medlock bagged a total of 35 pounds 7 ounces on day two. Not only did Brandon jump to the front with a lead of 15 pounds but he also grabbed the big bass title with a 10 pound 6 ounce kicker.
The final day of the event proved to be the separator that could have went either way from Brandom Medlock. Day three produced another 15 pounds for Brandon, though he was almost caught my Randall Tharp who bagged 28 pounds and 14 ounces, bringing him within 6 pounds of Brandon Medlock.
With the tournament concluded Brandon Medlock proved to be the victor with 68-02, winning him $35,000. It is no doubt that without his day two total of monsters the event could have gone the other way.
